Product Development Engineer for Filtration Elements and Systems

The position is responsible for the design and development of new and current element technology.  The position is also responsible for testing, evaluating new materials and new technologies and implementing them into the design process.

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Designs and develops product line extensions for filter elements to round out or broaden the company’s product offering.
  • Develops elements and filter modules for applications already being served by competitors.
  • Develops designs that enhance the performance of existing products and systems.
  • Designs end caps, center tubes, and other structural components to meet delta pressure applications.
  • Designs or directs the design of castings for OEM opportunities.
  • Directs new media designs and works with vendors to develop new proprietary medias.
  • Evaluates vendor performance and evaluates products of new vendors.
  • Directs outside resources on new element designs.
  • Develops next generation products by integrating new technologies and new materials into the design process.
  • Works with Marketing and Sales to develop custom and standard products to meet market needs.
  • Responsible for researching the products of competitors.
  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge of customer performance requirements and applications in order to solve their filtration problems effectively.
  • Manages the testing lab and the lab technician.


Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • BS Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum three years experience in a filtration company in design engineering or similar capacity.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the performance aspects of media used in particulate filtration
  • Systems experience a plus
  • Knowledgeable about fluids and material compatibility with media, adhesives and other materials (metals and plastics) used in the manufacture of elements.
  • Familiar with engineering aspects of fluids such as oils, EHC fluids, fuels, and the common filtration problems associated with these type fluids.

Regional Sales Manager – Western United States

Territory includes:  California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Alaska, Hawaii and Western Canada.

Position Summary:  Oversees distributor sales of Kaydon filtration systems, filter elements, service contracts and related products to a variety of customers, within a defined geographical location.  Selling is accomplished through direct sales, distribution networks and independent reps. The key component of the job is the management of the Rep and Distributor network.

Qualifications:  A four year degree in sales, marketing or engineering or the equivalent in filtration related sales experience.  Previous experience:

  • Managing Representatives and Distributors
  • Selling Capital Equipment, Replacement Parts or Selling to Industrial Applications
  • Strong Understanding of Hydraulic Filtration, Oil and Fuel Conditioning

Markets Include:  Power Generation, Marine, Mining and General Industry

Salary:  Base salary plus commission along with an excellent benefits package.

Car provided

Travel up to 70%.  Required to live within the defined territory.

Engineering Manager – Filtration Division

The successful candidate should possess a B.S. Degree in Engineering with at least 10 years previous experience as an Engineering Manager or Director.  Other requirements include:

  • Must have a previous background in Filtration / Separation
  • Must possess a versatile Engineering background to include previous exposure / experience in the Design of capital equipment and components, R&D and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Must be a strong leader of people with an emphasis on managing to results
  • Must possess good project management skills and the ability to teach project management to others
  • Previous experience with LEAN Enterprise is a plus

The position is responsible for the management and oversight of the entire Engineering department which includes:  Design Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing Engineering.   The position reports to the President of the Environmental Services Division.

Design Technician

The position is responsible for preparing drawings using both 2D and 3D Modeling software.  The position is also responsible for other engineering duties to include creating bill of materials, routings, and work instructions.

Qualifications: 

  • A two year technical degree and two years previous experience drawing / designing capital equipment.
  • Previous experience using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Inventor or the equivalent.
  • A high level of mechanical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Previous experience working in an Engineering environment is a plus.
